ETA INFORMATION

1. ETA Visa description

An ETA is an Electronic Travel Authority to travel to Australia and is accessible by Australian border agencies, airlines and travel agencies. The ETA is valid for short term stays for tourism or business activities (attending a conference, making business enquiries, contractual negotiations among others). An ETA is not a work visa.

The main benefit about ETA is that is an online process, which allows to visit Australia without the need to apply through a departmental office for the traditional paper visa. All non-citizens require a Visa or an Electronic Travel Authority to enter Australia.

2. ETA Expiration

You can enter Australia as many times as you want for a period of 12 months from the date your ETA is granted, or until the expiry date of your passport, whichever is earlier. You can stay in Australia for a maximum of 3 months, 90 days, in each visit.

3. ETA Conditions

You can apply for an ETA Australian electronic visa online, if:

4. ETA Eligible Countries

Only citizens from the following countries are eligible to apply for an online ETA.

If you do not hold a passport from one of the eligible countries, you have to contact the Australian Mission related to the Visa department and apply for a Visitor Visa (subclass 600).

5. ETA Application

In order to complete your online application for an ETA, you must hold your passport, have an email address and a credit/debit card.

The information you provide in your online ETA application needs to be exactly the same than in your passport and you must use the same passport that is linked to your online ETA application when you travel.
